This afternoon, I gave a presentation about social media to about 50 business people from a variety of industries and organizations. I wanted to look professional, but not stuffy. I also wanted something cool so that I wouldn’t have a nerve-induced heat stroke in front of a room full of people. {P.S. today was the ultimate test of the natural deodorant, and it passed with flying colors!}

I woke up at 5:00am and had an action-packed day, starting with a 7:30 staff meeting for the flower shop. Dinner is sitting on the counter (side note: I’d like to kiss the guy who invented take-out) and my sweats are calling my name. My brain hurts and I’m fresh out of interesting things to say/write.

This weekend marks the official end of summer. I’m really not sure how I feel about this… partly because my head is spinning from how fast the last few months flew by and I’m having trouble concentrating.

One one hand, I can’t believe that summer is over and I didn’t take one trip to the beach or spend a single day on a boat in one of the dozens of lakes that surround me; I’ve been so busy with family stuff and the whole working-three-jobs-and-trying-to-start-a-business thing.

On the other hand, I’m really looking forward to fall. It comes with some pretty awesome stuff: cooler weather, pumpkin lattes, Thanksgiving, and the end of bathing suit season (among other great things).

On the subject of fall and style, I usually change my hair color to darker/warmer tones around this time of year. These photos were taken at sunset, so my hair looks really red… and I kind of dig it. I’ve never gone dramatic red, but I think I may have to give it a go.

Alfani ruffle front dress (Macy’s Clearance, $20)
LOFT sweater vest (from many seasons ago)
Simply Vera Vera Wang belt (Kohl’s clearance, $12)
BCBG shoes

These BCBG shoes were one of the first pair of expensive stilettos I ever bought (expensive to me at the time, that is). I picked them out for my engagement party more than three years ago, when I was months away from graduating with my undergrad degree and making a humble hourly wage working for a real estate office. I’d just bought a pricey dress at Bloomingdales for the party, and I remember calling C from the Dillard’s shoe department and asking him if it was ludicrous to spend three figures on a pair of shoes. We decided that since it was such an auspicious occasion (and I promised to wear them all the time) we could swing it. Now, all these years later, they’re still one of my favorite things in my closet, and I’ve made good on my vow — ’til death do us part {both the shoes, and the hubs, that is}.

Closet Clean-Out Giveaway Bag

There are a couple of things that I knew had to happen as soon as I ended my bootcamp. First, I had to recreate this look that Kendi put together in her 30 for 30. Second, I really needed to make a break from the outside wall where we took all of my remix photos (except for the last deviant three).

Have you entered the second Closet Clean-Out Giveaway yet?! Time is running out…
