>Guest Blogger: Jamie of Work Your Closet

>

Hello lovelies.
I’m Jamie from Work Your Closet

My dear and adorable friend Keira asked me to help her out this week -
so here I am.

For those of you who don’t know, I take inspiration posts and re-create the look with my own items.

Here’s my inspiration:

Here’s how I did it:

AE shirt
Hollister Co skirt
Hubs’ belt
Minnetonka Moccasins
F21 earrings

Sometimes I’m right on, sometimes it’s a stretch BUT I’ve realized it’s an awesome way to refresh your closet and your same old pieces

So when I’m looking for inspiration here’s where I turn:

>Guest Blogger: Jessica of Monster Cakes

Well hello new friends! My name is Jessica, and you can usually find me blogging over at Monster Cakes, my personal life and style blog. Keira is busy making moms smile with flowers this week, so she was gracious enough to let me pop over and say hello for the day. I happen to be smitten with Keira and her pup, so this is a huge honor, and I’m oh so happy to meet other ‘A Pretty Penny’ fans because I know I’m in good company!

Now on to the good stuff. Moms. I’m feeling the love for moms. Especially mine, because she’s one classy broad and she’s bestowed some great fashion wisdom upon me over the years. For example…

Lessons from mom:

You don’t have to sacrifice style for practicality and comfort. My mom looks glamorous when she runs to the market, spends her days in airports, or struts around in a rain storm. It’s kind of ridiculous. This might explain why I thought a floral raincoat went in the “need”category.

Pixie cut gals have more fun. So so true. I encourage any and all to join the short hair club and partake in our wild shenanigans.

Your smile is your best accessory! My mom is a dental hygienist, so teeth are pretty big in my family (both literally and figuratively. Do you see those chompers?) Anyway, mom’s laugh is a show stopper and completely contagious, and she makes me want to embrace smile lines and my obnoxious laugh with pride!

And most importantly… Be yourself, and you’ll always be in style. Bam. Wisdom.
(And check out my mom’s fro. Hot.)

Mom: Thanks for always letting me borrow your shoes and for all your fashion advise! I love you to bits.

A Pretty Penny Readers: Thanks for letting me hang out with you guys today! I’d love to get to know you all better, so feel free to say hello over at www.monster-cakes.blogspot.com.

Keira: I hope your flower shop is kicking butt right now. Serious bouquet butt.

xoxo

>Guest Blogger: Kayley of Sidewalk Ready

Hello A Pretty Penny readers! I’m Kayley Heeringa, creator of Sidewalk Ready!
A little about me:
I am a hairstylist.
My husband and I own a photography business (Kai Heeringa Photography).
I also work part time at the Gap (I like being busy – can you tell?)
I love pretty things – clothes, cosmetics, music, decor …
I have a dog, Shanty, and a cat, Epworth. They are color coordinated – and yes, I did it on purpose.
I have a passion for travelling, but love living in Grand Rapids, MI.
I started blogging seven months ago on a whim and love, love, love it!
When Keira contacted me asking if I’d like to do a guest post this week, I didn’t hesitate to say “Yes!!”. I love reading APP for the cute fashion, fun writing, and inexpensive clothing ideas! One thing that I really like about Keira’s style is how classic it is – so for my guest post, I styled an outfit full of classic pieces!

This skirt is new! I haven’t yet featured it on my blog – so this is it’s debut. :) When styling this skirt I went extra classic and paired it with black and white.

Who doesn’t love a skirt that makes you want to twirl??

And now for some detail shots …

This purse used to be my mom’s. She passed it down to me when I started my blog!

And a small pop of red – lips!

Outfit Breakdown:
Top: The Limited (Secondhand, $2) / Skirt: H&M ($29.95) / Necklace: J.Crew Factory Store ($15) / Shoes: Urban Outfitters (Gift) / Purse: Dooney & Bourke (Vintage, Secondhand, Free)
Thanks to Keira for the opportunity to guest post and thanks to you all for reading!
Stop by Sidewalk Ready anytime and say “hi!” :)

My favorite cotton tee from day 2 night…

Hi! I’m Meghan! I own m.marie m.marie> boutiquem.marie> in Winter Haven, Fl. (same small town as Keira’s flower shop). Between the hustle and bustle of her flower shop (Mother’s Day right around the corner) I’m sure she needed a few days dedicated to flowers and moms of course! :) As an avid follower of Keira’s blog, she has inspired me to start my own! I just started a few months ago, and I mainly blog about my shop, new shipments, and a few outfits here and there (more outfits soon but the self-taken i-phone shots just aren’t cutting it lol). I was super stoked when she gave me the opportunity to be a guest blogger on her fab. blog! Here’s what I did: I decided to use one of my most loved cotton tees made by one of my favorite lifestyle brands RVCA. I carry RVCA in the shop and I am completely obsessed with it all! It’s so hard not to take everything straight to my closet! Sometimes I’m in a hurry (I’m sure lots of you are too) and I don’t want to think about a complete outfit change, (if I do want to party after work heehee) so I try and incorporate things that I am already wearing. Here are some of the pictures from my mini photo shoot with a good friend of mine Michael michael> Floresmichael>.
