Dear Summer,

I know we’ve had a love/hate relationship over the years. Things have been strained between us. It’s my fault. I took advantage of you as a youngster in school, and grew to hate your oppressive heat and humidity as I got older. I didn’t take the time to appreciate all the good things you have to offer.

So this year, I’m vowing to appreciate you more. To keep the propane tank full and grill more al fresco dinners. To savor your long days and languid laziness. To turn of the television and tackle more Pinterest recipes and DIY projects instead. To read more books on the hammock on the back patio with great big glasses of iced tea. To spend less time at work and more time with family and friends. To enjoy more days outside and wear my bikinis unabashedly. Maybe even get a [safe] tan. And to dress myself in colors the Chiquita Banana lady would be proud of, all summer long.

Yours,

Keira

A statement shoe works in much the same way as a statement necklace: throw it on with easy basics and, voilà, instant outfit.

This morning I overslept by about an hour, and left myself with 20 minutes to get dressed and haul my groggy behind to work. Seeing as how I spent 15 of that 20 minutes sleepy drunk in a hot shower — I know, so not green — I didn’t have much time for primping. Enter tinted moisturizer and crazy lady up-do (which is looking way crazier in that top photo; thanks a million windy weather) and a frantically pulled ensemble of skinnies and a button-down. Original. My new coral patent penny saved the day by adding a pop of color to spice things up.

where’s wilma?

Today was cah-razy, ya’ll. Easily the busiest day we’ve had at the flower shop since Christmas, with lots of new people checking out the consignment boutique, too. Even though I’m completely exhausted and can hardly form coherent sentences, I’m so thankful for each of our customers and excited to see APP’s brick-and-mortar sister growing into her own!

Now for some advice: throw a trench coat over just about anything, and you can’t lose. Even when you’re wearing a t-shirt that you could’ve easily borrowed from Waldo’s girlfriend and a simple pair of jeans. This one is on sale at Ruche for $39.50!

Annnnd, that’s all I got. See you around here tomorrow for a super simple tutorial on that glitter pouch I’m clutching…

wish you were here! {product review}

I’m teaming up with Anastasia Beverly Hills and The Confluence again to spread the word about Anastasia’s latest limited edition set – Wish You Were Here! – that’s available exclusively at Sephora. What better way to chat about fun new cosmetics than via a little video review, hmm?

Here’s what you need to do…
