inspired: the poor porker

I have a big major crush on the poor porker. They moved across the country, from L.A. to a Florida town nearby, and now they’re spreading sweet sugary joy around our community with a big dose of style and substance.

Robyn and Jarrid’s story resonates with me in so many ways. Two people who are crazy about each other take a giant risk and jump head-first into a business together. They do it for the love of what they do, and not for the money. They work hard, and live in the moment; and know that with a whole lot of faith and elbow grease just about any dream is possible.

I haven’t even had their famous beignets yet, and I’m already swooning.

I was going to post tonight…

… but I’ve been fantasizing about this recipe since I pinned it last week, and nothing cures a case of the Mondays like a home cooked meal. I’ve managed to tear myself away from the stove and my tasting spoon while this beautiful concoction simmers to final perfection to tell you this:

Point your browser to Iowa Girl Eats, and bookmark that shiz immediately. Kristin’s blog is chock-full of recipes that are easy to follow and replicateand everything I’ve made has been just… yum. Plus she’s adorable and witty, and as you read through her posts and peep her pictures it feels like you’re sitting in her kitchen while she whips up a meal.

So I’ll be back with our regularly-scheduled programming tomorrow, but until then — chili mac and cheese until our faces fall off.

how you wore it: megan of feathers & freckles

I’m over-the-moon excited about the great response I’ve gotten about the new boutique (read more about it here) both in the store and online. A big, heartfelt thank you to everyone who has shared words of support, and especially those of you that have purchased pieces from the shop {hugs}.

I thought it would be fun to save Sundays for a special new series we’ll call How You Wore It, where I’ll share the way readers style their purchases from a pretty penny. It’s so fun to see how different ladies work the same piece and make it their own!

We’re kicking things off with the beautiful Megan of Feathers & Freckles. Megan scooped up the INC polka dot blouse I wore here, and worked it into a perfect look for fall. I love everything about it — the color palette, the boots and socks, and the vintage-inspired bag are ahhh-dorable.

Check out the full post and be sure to tell Megan hello! {You’ll want to follow her, too. Her style is pretty impeccable.}

Thanks for shopping, Megan!!

You may notice that things look a little different around here… over the holiday weekend, I packed up APP — photos, outfits, recipes, tutorials, permalinks and all — and moved it from Blogger to WordPress. After several frustrating run-ins with the old landlord about comments, posts disappearing, etc., I decided it was time to find a new place to call home.

I’m still unpacking boxes and working on the decor, but so far I’m happy I decided to make the move. This is actually the third blogging platform that this little blog has resided on; I started on Tumblr way back when, then moved to Blogger, and now here were are! Hopefully the third time is a charm.

I’m working out some of the kinks from the changeover, but I’m hoping for a semi-seamless transition into this new platform. You should still be able to find me on Bloglovin’ and RSS, but I’m still figuring out how to move my Google Friend Connect over (any suggestions would be most appreciated!).

Well, hope you like the new place! Make yourself at home, and take a peek around. I’d love any advice and/or feedback from other bloggers who’ve migrated from Blogger to WordPress…
