>How-To: Newsprint Manicure

>

I saw this newsprint manicure over on The Daily Nail and thought it was adorable (especially for bookworms and word lovers like myself). I did a little Google detective work to see how to recreate it, and was surprised at how easy it is! All of the tutorials I found called for vodka or other clear distilled spirits, but we were fresh out. I used isopropyl alcohol instead, and it seemed to get the job done. I tried a quick and dirty version this afternoon to share it with you:

    1. It works better if you soak the newspaper then place on your nail, instead of soaking your nail. :) Love this!

  1. >This is a really cute idea and executed wonderfully! I always have such a hard time painting my own nails, but this looks like something I can't completely mess up.Love it!

  2. >I did this an it totally worked! Just follow the steps and you a golden. I recommend Essie's "Ballet Slipper Pink" as the nail color it gives the text a really cool soft look

  3. >This is great! I tried it out and it worked perfectly.. thanks so much for sharing! A couple pictures of my version (and a link to your blog) are on my blog– hope you don't mind! :)<3.Lonisilentmusingsofamind.blogspot.com

  4. >I followed this tutorial and I have one tip to add.PUT THE TOP COAT ON QUICKLY!Otherwise you'll get smudges like I did. :( Also, try to pick a newspaper with dark font and a lot of ink. Mine came out really light.

    1. Oh no! Sorry to hear that. It’s been a long time since I’ve done this, but I remember that it took quite a bit of patience and some trial and error :)

  5. Funny, as I stumbled this, I was wearing my “Newsie Nails”
as I like to call them. Found a similar picture for inspiration
and went for it. Nice tutorial. :)

  6. this is so cool!! I was wondering if you can do this on top of like a regular colour nail polish? i think that the pop of colour could be cool

  7. Hey, thanks for the great idea! I just tried it out following your instructions and it turned out perfectly! I can’t wait to show them off! :)

  8. I found this via stumbleupon and I just finished my new beautiful nails! This is a very easy DIY gorgeous way to dress up nails! I used Pure Ice- wild thing, a very springy green. Thanks for the post!!

  9. This design is steller! You obviously know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Wonderful job. I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!

  10. I tried this, and as soon as I put on the top coat, the print smudged all to hell. Never try it. It was a huge waste of my time.

  11. I absolutely love my nails! The process is laughably easy and my nails look like a million bucks. I even used some larger text on my thumb, and it looks killer :) I used OPI’s “Getting Acquainted” as my base coat and a quick-dry top coat.

Also, I was curious, so I reapplied some newsprint to one nail, and the criss-cross pattern of the text looks awesome!

  12. amazing idea , really . the first minute i saw it isaid i need to do it now . well , i though of which words could i put , i decided to take some lyrics of lady gaga’s song – hair , these lyrics mean a lot to me . another thing i did the basic polish white … really thanks a lot for your creativity and everything <3

  13. I think it would look better if you put the newspaper strips on vertically. It would elongate the nail and look better as well.

  14. i did it and it was horrible i will never do this again it took so long and the ink residue got everywhere on my skin, yet the ink hardly showed up on my nails. yeah, it’s “creative” and looks cool but it definitely wasn’t worth it.

  15. I dont get what is so amazing about having backwards words on your nails? Looks like u ruined a manicure by leaning on a newspaper. That looks HORRIBLE…why would anyone do that?? Looks trashy!

  16. This is such a cool idea! I want to try it. Do you mind if i reblog it? i’m new to wordpress, so i ddin’t know if it ws ok or not. I just wanted to ask you first. :)

  17. Wow,that is a hoot! I love books and words, too. Must try that!
I write a fashion blog and did a posting on crackle manicures. If you haven’t heard of it or tried it,check out my post at http://lovesgrbaseball-fabulousfashionista.blogspot.com

I did the crackle manicure and loved it! Different and edgy.
Let me know what you think. I am going to follow you and look forward to future postings!
    Always,
    Diane

  18. This is so cool! It looks best if you use the answers to crosswords I think. I like it better than words. Be sure to let the paint dry COMPLETELY before you put on the newspaper, and don’t press too hard. Good luck!

  19. that is really amazing , i tried it and it was really nice >>>> i even translated the post to a different language and i posted it in another website so my friends could do it ( of course i gave you all the credit and i posted a link to your original post) …. thanks .. i really love it …:)

    1. Try putting the alcohol on after placing the newspaper on your fingernail. Kind of like water on a temporary tattoo.

  20. I love this so much. I tried it recently and recieved so many compliments but it really depressed me when I had to take it off!

  21. I StumbledUpon this and did it right then and there… and it worked!! What an awesome idea using things I already had around the house!

  22. Found this on Stumbleupon, too…oh my GOSH it looks absolutely fantastic. Mine chipped and warped a little bit (that’s probably because I used old, cheap nail polish), but with that, it adds a faded, old-book feel to it. Hard to explain, but it looks fabulous. I did it on my fingers in a pinkish beige, and on my sister’s toes in a light coral-y nude. It looks fantastic! Thinking about doing a white base coat and transferring comic strips onto it… even if it were to be too big, it would add a pop-arty flair to it. Thank you SO much for making my nails look fantastic!

  23. I am outraged! I used isopropyl alcohol and this did not work for me at all. After several unsucessful tries, I managed to get ONE NAIL CORRECT. I used several different articles of newspaper.

  24. I just did this, it was super easy. I made a few mistakes by smearing the print when I put a clear coat over to complete the look but overall, I love it!

  25. I have been doing this for years, paint your nails white first,Once dry..place the news paper on your nail then dip Q -tip in the rubbing alcohol then put in on top of the news paper it will come out darker. also cartoons newspaper work really well too…

  27. I love this! Will be trying it with my daughter… she’ll be thrilled. Thanks for stopping by my blog, I think yours is great and I appreciate the support. :)

  28. This is a really good idea! I just wish I wasnt so hard on my nails. If it’s not gel nails, I can’t fool with it. Regular nail polish comes off in a matter of hours with me and my two kids LOL. I still will try it out though!

  29. It would show up better if you put on a coat of white nail polish. I’ve tried it like that before and it looks muh better :)

  30. Reblogged this on Little talks and commented:
I have never been good at nails. The last time I tried to do them, it took me four hours and an entire bottle of acetone (which is nail polish remover for our male friends). But I came across this post earlier, and think it might actually be something I’ll try. Wish me luck!

  31. That is so cool I love it!

Phone sales cannot able to continue to expand in the U.
The email app with its resizing preview pane is as sexy as an email app is ever likely to get, the jiggling
app drawer edit screen (with the ability to delete apps right from the listing) is very nice, plus you get themes, a cool power off
animation and much, much more. If you have an app idea

need to hire Android developer from any mobile company and get your dream app developed.
